Apply for a Tree Removal Permit

Do you want to remove a tree?

The City of Orlando requires anyone removing a tree from their property to get a tree removal permit.

Keep in mind:

  • There is a $25 application fee for a residential tree removal permit and $50 per acre fee for a commercial tree removal permit.
  • Be as descriptive as possible with the location of the tree and the reason for removal.
  • After submitting your request, please mark the tree to help our staff identify the tree you want removed.

Apply for a tree removal permit

If the tree you wish to remove is more than four inches in diameter at chest height, you need a permit to remove the tree. A permit application fee of $25 for residential or $50 per commercial acreage is due prior to receiving your permit.

Review inspection results

An arborist will inspect the tree in about three business days. After the inspection, they will follow up with you on the results of the inspection.

Receive your tree removal permit

If you are approved to remove the tree, a copy of the permit will be provided to you.

Remove your tree

You are responsible for removing your tree safely.

Plant a replacement tree

If your permit indicates that replanting is required, you will need to plant the specified replacement tree(s) within 60 days.

Verify you planted a replacement tree

Within 60 days, let the city know you have planted a replacement tree. If you don't verify, you will be added to a non-compliance list.
