Report Speeding in Your Neighborhood

Are people frequently speeding on your residential street?

The City of Orlando studies traffic to determine if there is a speeding problem and what steps to take to keep your neighborhood streets safe.

Step 1.Gather information and understand the process

Identify patterns like the location, days and times you see people speeding. We can investigate it if the problem seems to be a frequent pattern of speeding.

Step 2.Report the problem to us

You can report the speeding to us to help us understand where the problem areas are.

Step 3.We'll review your request

Our Traffic Studies team will investigate your request and determine the next steps, such as a traffic calming project or asking police to patrol the area.

Step 4.Depending on the issue, it may require a traffic calming project or enforcement

Traffic calming is the installation of devices designed to reduce traffic speeds or cut-through volumes in the interest of safety. Some traffic calming measures may not be possible depending on the amount of traffic on that road.

Examples of devices used to improve the safety for pedestrians and motorists are:

  • Speed humps
  • Speed tables
  • Raised crosswalks
  • Roundabouts
  • Islands

If we find a traffic calming device is necessary, it will go through the steps of a traffic calming project

Sometimes traffic calming isn't possible or necessary, but we may refer OPD to the area to enforce the speed limits if needed.
