Are you interested in running for a City of Orlando government office?

To begin the registration process, you will need to meet the minimum requirements to qualify to run. Orientation sessions are available.

In Person

Step 1.Meet minimum qualifications

Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

To run for Mayor:

  • Be a resident and registered voter of the City of Orlando, for at least one year prior to the date of qualifying to run for City office.

To run for commissioner:

  • Be a resident and a registered voter of that district in the City of Orlando, for at least one year prior to the date of qualifying to run for City office.

Step 4.Schedule an orientation session

As a potential candidate, you are highly encouraged to schedule an orientation session, either in-person or virtually, with the City Clerk's Office by calling 407.246.2251 or emailing cityclerk@orlando.gov.
