  • Special needs occupants have assistance to escape.
  • Lighters, matches, gas and flammables are stored and secure.

Home Tips

  • House number is visible on street too emergency responders.
  • Windows for escape are not blocked by furniture, security bars, wood or painted shut.
  • Security bars have a quick release.
  • The home is not cluttered with clothes, papers and other items that burn quickly.
  • Home has a carbon monoxide detector.
  • Home has working smoke alarms inside and outside every bedroom and each floor.
  • All smoke alarms are working with new batteries.

Heating Tips

  • Small appliances are unplugged when not in use.
  • No appliances or candles are left unattended.
  • Heating appliances are at least 3 feet from combustible material.
  • Clothes dryer lint filter and vent pipe are clean.
  • Electrical switches are in good condition and have an arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) installed.
