Apply for City of Orlando Fall Youth Employment

Are you 16-25 years old and need a job?

The City of Orlando is partnering with local businesses to provide an eight-week internship to young adults ages 16 to 25 living in City of Orlando Kidz Zones to gain hands-on experience working in their field of interest.

Internships take place October 16, 2022 through December 10, 2022 with students working up to 15 hours a week starting at $10 an hour while receiving mentorship from seasoned professionals. After December 10, businesses can choose to keep the student as a regular employee.

Before starting the internship, students will receive job skills training from September 19 through October 15 on topics such as resume building, financial literacy and professionalism.

Step 1.Check your eligibility

To apply, you must be:

  • Between the ages of 16 and 25
  • A resident of a City of Orlando Kidz Zone
  • Registered with a Kidz Zone (Parramore Kidz Zone, Holden Heights Kidz Zone, Mercy Drive Kidz Zone and Engelwood Kidz Zone)

Step 2.Fill out an in-person application

Applications are available between August 15, 2022 through September 9, 2022 at the following Kidz Zone neighborhood centers and must be completed in-person. Be sure to indicate that you desire to participate in Youth Employment on your Zone application.

Step 3.Provide necessary documents

During the onboarding process, students will need to provide the following to their assigned case manager:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Signed social security card
  • School ID or Florida ID
  • Bank account routing and account number (optional)

Step 4.You will receive program information

Before starting your internship, you will receive job skills training from September 19 through October 15 on topics such as resume building, financial literacy and professionalism.

The training will occur at your respective Zone Center during the dates specified. The training is mandatory in order to participate in the eight-week internship. You will receive more information on training once you have been accepted into the program.

Step 5.We will refer you to a company and position

Each student is assigned a case manager to help them navigate the internship experience. Case workers will check in regularly and provide guidance.
