Schedule an Inspection

Are you at a point in your project where you need an inspector to conduct an inspection?

Different permits need inspections at different points in the project. You can schedule inspections online, via text or by phone.

Make sure your project is ready for an inspection

Before you schedule an inspection, make sure you have the following at the job site:

  • An approved set of plans (and revisions)
  • A valid permit and permit card
  • A copy of the recorded Notice of Commencement
  • Any engineering documents for the project.

Make sure you post your permit and that it is visible from the street and accessible to the inspector.

Keep in mind: If your permit is open for six months without an inspection, it will expire.

Schedule your inspection

You can use our Permit Lookup tool to schedule your inspection. Once you search for your permit, click “View Inspections.” It will show all the inspections that are available for you to schedule. Click “Schedule” to schedule that inspection. If someone lives in the house, you will need to be present for the inspection. Otherwise, you can provide details on how to access the job site in your inspection notes. You can also share a phone number for the inspector to call if there are any issues.

Schedule any re-inspections necessary

If you did not pass your inspection, you will need to resolve the issues the inspector shared and schedule another inspection. Before scheduling your re-inspection, you will need to pay a re-inspection fee. You can pay that fee and schedule your inspection using our Permit Lookup tool.

Schedule your inspection via text message

Text “INSPECTION” to 866.205.3881 to be walked through the process step-by-step. Helpful prompts will ask for your permit number, inspection code and preferred date and time in order to assist you in completing your desired action in just a few text messages.

Text “SCHEDULE” followed by your permit number, inspection code and date (for example: SCHEDULE BLD2018-00000 100 8/3) if you have all your permit information, and do not need step-by-step assistance. Using this option reduces the number of texts you send and receive, speeding up your scheduling process.
