Register a Contractor

Do you need to register a contractor or submit updated contractor licensing information?

Contractors getting permits for work in the City of Orlando must be registered with the Permitting Services Division.

Online

Step 1.Gather your information

State-certified contractors need:

  • A current business tax receipt from the Florida city or county where their business is located.
  • A copy of their state certification from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
  • Current proof of workers’ compensation insurance or exemption. Workers' compensation must be addressed to the City of Orlando, 400 South Orange Avenue, Orlando FL 32801.

State-registered and limited specialty contractors also need:

  • A surety bond in an amount of at least $5,000 for state-regulated contractors.
  • A surety bond in an amount of at least $1,000 for specialty contractors not regulated by the state.

A stamped sealed surety bond or continuation certificate can be submitted electronically, in person, by mail, or by fax.

Step 2.Fill out the contractor registration form

You will need to upload copies of current licenses, certifications and insurance.

Step 3.We'll review your request

After submitting the form, expect a response from us within two business days.

Step 4.Submit your updated information

To avoid delays in permit issuance or scheduling inspections, complete Step 2 on this page or email your updated business tax receipt, workers compensation or workers comp exemption and contractor's license to digitalpermits@orlando.gov

If we do not have your updated documents on file, you will be unable to schedule inspections or move forward with your permit.

Step 5.Email us your updated information

To keep your registration current, email a copy of your updated contractor's license, business tax receipt, workers compensation or exempt, and/or contractor's bond to digitalpermits@orlando.gov.

If we do not have your updated documents on file, you will be unable to schedule inspections or move forward with your permit.
