Apply for a short-term rental permit from the City of Orlando. The city requires all residents who want to rent out a portion of their property for short-term rentals to have a short-term property rental permit.

Check your eligibility

If you are in a property that is zoned as residential you are allowed to rent out a portion of your home for short-term rentals. You must:

  • Not rent out more than half of your property (less than half of your bedrooms)
  • Continue to use the house as your primary residence
  • Be present on the property for the visit

Gather your information

To process your application, you will need:

  • Two proofs of residency, including a copy or photo of your driver's license and a utility bill
  • If you are not the property owner, a notarized letter from the property owner giving you permission to rent out rooms on the property for short-term rentals

You should also confirm that the total number of bedrooms listed with the Orange County Property Appraiser is correct.

Apply for Home Sharing Registration

  • Click "Choose Permits"
  • Select "Home Sharing Permit"
  • Enter "Home Sharing" as the project type 
  • Complete the application and upload all required documents

City staff will review your request and get back with you in three to four business days.

Pay your fees

You will be provided a permit ID and link via email to pay your permit fee.

Receive your permit

Once you have paid for your permit, you will receive an email with your permit.
